Prof. Dr. Christina Hoon
As a rule, the prerequisite for the assignment of a master's thesis is the successful completion of at least one seminar at the chair. Topics given by the chair team can be worked on or own questions with reference to the field of family business management can be proposed. Please note the following information regarding the process organization:
1. First, interested students fill out a request form for the processing of a master thesis and send it to by e-mail to the secretary's office. (sekretariat.hoon@uni-bielefeld.de)
2. A reply to the submitted request form follows and a first information meeting is arranged. Interested students should already show here that they have already dealt with the topic.
3. After the consultation, the interviewees prepare an exposé. The decision to accept the master's thesis is made after the presentation of the exposé.
4. After acceptance of the master thesis the student must self-registrate the master thesis with the registration form in the examination office. Please note that the previous supervisor is not automatically the examiner!
5. After registration of the master's thesis, the date of its submission must be communicated to the secretary's office in a timely manner. (By e-mail or telephone)
7. In the last step, the master thesis is handed in to the responsible examination office in due time.
Please also note the information provided by the examination office (Prüfungsamt) on the registration and submission of Master's theses. You can find these on the homepage of the examination office of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.
Please note that we usually only supervise qualitative or conceptual Master's theses. If you would like to write a quantitative Master's thesis on topics such as HR and leadership, please contact Prof. Bormann's chair and follow the instructions for the application procedure:
The master colloquium deals in particular with questions concerning the preparation of a scientific thesis. Topics such as the structure of the Master's thesis, realistic time planning, literature research as well as data analysis and evaluation are dealt with and discussed together.
The colloquium primarily aims to support the participants methodically and in terms of content in the preparation of their Master's thesis. In addition, the participants can present their own work progress, discuss it in the plenum and receive constructive feedback.
In order to give students an idea of possible topics for a Master's thesis at the chair "Leadership of Family Businesses", some titles of already successfully completed Master's theses are listed below. These are for orientation purposes only and do NOT represent a selection of topics for a Master's thesis!
You can work on topics given by the chair team or propose your own questions related to the field of family business management. Cooperation with family businesses is also possible in the course of the Master's thesis.
